Give the Suit Off Your Back
by usatoday.com
With millions of Americans still out of work, a nice suit can go a long way toward helping these unemployed workers snag a coveted job opening.Well, if you've got any gently used business attire that's no longer in use, now is the time to dust these items off! The Men's Wearhouse is helping disadvantaged job seekers get a boost of self-confidence during their third annual National Suit Drive, which is running through the end of September. This year's goal? To top 100,000 articles of clothing donations in just one month.
"With nearly one out of 10 working-age men unemployed in this country, the economic downturn has disproportionately hurt the male workforce," said George Zimmer, Men's Wearhouse founder and CEO. "By collecting and donating professional clothing, Men's Wearhouse aims to help men 'suit up' for job interviews and offset the 'mancession.'"
The Suit Drive is being held at the more than 1,000 Men's Wearhouse locations throughout the country. The stores are collecting men's and women's suits, shirts, jackets, ties, belts and shoes to donate to approximately 200 local charities that support those in transition looking for work. And as a little thanks for your generosity, the company will reward you with 25% off your next purchase.
